Dr. Leroy Loving, Jr., DDS, MD

Dr. Leroy Loving, Jr. is a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is licensed in both dentistry and medicine. Dr. Loving is committed to quality care for his patients and has dedicated more than 34 years to his private practice in Decatur, Georgia.

Academics

Dr. Loving opened his private practice as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in 1979. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Chemistry from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, where he served as President of the Science Club and a member of the Beta Beta Beta Honor Society.

He then attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, where he served as President of the Student National Dental Society and received the Mosby Book Scholarship Award, the Oral Pathology Award and the Oral Surgery Award. He also completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Howard University.

After practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery for more than 14 years, he enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned a Doctor of Medicine degree. He also completed a one-year General Surgery residency at Georgia Baptist Hospital, known today as Atlanta Medical Center.

Professional activities

Dr. Loving has been involved in many professional organizations since 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a member of the National Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the National Dental Association.

He has also contributed to research on "Secretory IgA Levels in Oral Cancer Patients" and "The Effects of Vitamin D Deficiency in the Healing of Mandibular Fractures."

Community involvement

Dr. Loving has been a faithful member of Cascade United Methodist Church since July 1979, where he serves on the men's usher board and is a founding member of the church's Health Ministry. He has served the community as a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta for more than 21 years and is a Lifetime Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Family

Dr. Loving and his wife Ella have two sons, Brian and Christopher Loving.
